Today we headed to Warton Crag for a proper adventure! The walk was VERY steep and super slippery in places, but the incredible views at the top made it all worth it πΏβ°οΈ The children were in their absolute element spotting LOTS of trains π along the way, while others tackled the rocks like Spider-Man, climbing and scrambling their way through every challenge! Some spent the day soaking up the amazing views, while others fully embraced their role as Gandalf with giant walking sticks. All of the children took everything in their stride like total pros πͺβ¨
We all had great fun scrambling over the rocks, and some of us were even brave enough to abseil down the rock face… definitely a little scary, but so exciting too! We got absolutely drenched by the end, but that didn’t stop us loving every single minute of it! π
A huge thank you went to OutdoorEducation NW instructors Christian and Ben, who supported us throughout today’s adventure. We always loved spending time with them, and they were brilliant at encouraging us when the nerves started to kick in and helping us find the confidence to keep going πͺπ Even Miss Carmon bravely took on the abseil challenge! Meanwhile, Miss Summers and Mrs Bell kept their feet firmly on the ground… someone had to stay sensible and take all the photos after all! πΈπ'
On Wednesday 28th January, Hawks class enjoyed an exciting and engaging workshop with Wojtek, our visiting tutor, who introduced them to robotics and coding as part of their Design and Technology learning.
During the session, the children learned how to build their own robots using LEGO components, a computer brain, sensors, and connecting wires. Wojtek then guided them through coding their robots on laptops, allowing their designs to come to life.
The workshop was both educational and inspiring, and Hawks class were extremely proud of what they created. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience and look forward to welcoming Wojtek back to see what they can design and build next.

On 18th December, we couldn’t resist celebrating with a little Grinch Day! After completing a unit of work on The Grinch, the Hawks staff and boys enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate in their own take-home mug, topped with squirty cream and a fun milk-chocolate Grinch-themed disc. Don’t they look fantastic? We absolutely love Christmas at Golden Hill, and a Christmas jumper is always a must.
The Lancashire Music Van visited our school on November 25th, 2025, and it was an amazing experience. We had great fun trying out a wide variety of instruments, including drums, flutes, electric guitars, and bass guitars. We also enjoyed making lots of noise with anything and everything we could get our hands on! We can’t wait for them to visit us again. ????
